part-of-the-mob

Here is the conclusion of our first Swiss Carrotmob! In total we had 710 customers last Friday in Alban Market that did there grocery shopping. And gave us a total turnover of 7028.- Swiss francs. That gives us 3514.- to invest in Alban Market. More then half of the customers where Carrotmobbers. So we actually got to our high pitched goal! Yeaa! (see Article in the BAZ)

We thank all carrots for their purchases in Alban Market, for your support, hints and great talks that we were able to have with you all lot! You carrots were brilliant and thanks to you we were capable to take a small step in to our green bright future!

With the US background that Carrotmob has, this one turned out to be very Swiss! A little less show and event but a Carrotmob that counts in terms of the Swiss Franc. Too sad though that we did not achieve that massive long and loud line of Customers like in San Fran or Helsinki. But hey: our Carrotmob lasted all Day!

Thanks also to all of the press and media people that did a great job spreading and working on the coverage of the day! We also have the great honor to know the mayor of Basel to be a Carrotmober as well!

Fadil Jakupaj and the Team will need a few days to get to some energy. Then the next step would be to fix down the points the energy consultant has on the list and to work on the implementation in Alban Market and get going on the remodeling part! We will keep you posted!

If you have any ideas ore suggestions for the future ore anything else concerning improvements let us know!

Thanks again to everyone that participated!

You are the carrotmob!

by raphael on August 2, 2009

flyerblogDear Carrotmobbers

I herewith announce the first official Carrotmob in Switzerland Basel. This event on August 7th will last from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. The Alban Market will invest total of 50% of the sales volume attained during this time-period for energy efficiency- and environmental protection- measures in his store. It doesn’t matter what time of day you do your grocery shopping, as long as you do them in the Alban Market on that day! However, we will try to gather a crowd of people between 6 p.m.. and 8 p.m. for the media. Entertainment and excitement is guaranteed. This sensational experience will be accompanied by swiss television (around lunch time) and the print media.

So let us show Switzerland, where the city with the largest ecological awareness lies! It depends on each and everyone of you! You are the Carrotmob!

Please memorize the Carrotmob rules:

Carrotmob is local.
Do not travel from all over the country to Basel to attend the first Carrotmob in Switzerland. Surely there will be a Carrotmob in your city soon (or organize one yourself!)

No cars.
Take the “Trämli” (tram) or your bicycle as transportation (should be clear to everyone, but must be said so that critics have less arguments.)

Buy only what you really need.
This event will take place on a friday so that you can buy your groceries for the weekend and can save yourself the agony of visiting your large supermarket on a saturday.

Bring your own bag.
Bring your own shopping bag. The natural recourse used to produce polyethylene bags is crude oil.

Respect the neighborhood.
Take care of your surrounding environment. Don’t leave anything lying around. Deposit your Beer cans right around the block at the collecting point at the corner Klybeck- Dreirosenstrasse.

We are looking forward to this spectacular experience with you. Tell your friends and let everyone know!

Facebook Event

This is how you reach the Alban Market:
Tram number 8 until Bläsiring, tram number 1 and 14 to Dreirosenbrücke.
The shop is located at the corner of Offeburger- Klybeckstrasse.

Carrotmob in Basel, Switzerland

by raphael on July 9, 2009
